Beauty at Whelehans by Sarah Jameson

I have always known the beauty industry was the industry for me, so upon finishing school in 2008 I completed a CIBTAC Diploma in Fashion and Photographic Makeup. From this I went on to gain valuable work experience working with cosmetic powerhouses including Smashbox, Lancome, Chanel and Armani Makeup in both Brown Thomas Dublin and Harvey Nichols Dundrum. It was also through this that I began to realise a great makeup base begins with great skin and so I decided to add another loop to my makeup brush belt and delve a little deeper into the world of beauty. I enrolled to study beauty therapy here in Mullingar in the International College of Beauty by Mairin G. I cannot thank Máirin and Regina enough for the incredible knowledge and patience they shared with us. I graduated with a CIBTAC Diploma in Beauty Therapy in 2013.

It was then that I decided to leave the bright lights of Dublin behind and begin working locally in-salon to focus on gaining salon experience and expand my treatment knowledge as much as possible. It was over the next number of year’s in-salon that I learned that my repeat client treatments were also my favourite treatments to carry out – Shellac, makeup, brow shaping and tanning.

After a number of years in cosmetic retail and a few more in-salon, the opportunity to take over and rebrand the beauty treatment suite at Whelehans Pharmacy came about. I pride myself in using the best brands on the market and Irish brands where possible with CND Shellac®, Waxperts Wax®, Bellamianta® and Bperfect tan®. I also stock the Acne Out® skincare range for skin that is prone to moderate or severe acne. Acne Out® is also suitable for use by pregnant women and is a must for treating pesky hormonal breakouts. I have used this range myself for almost 3 years and stand by it completely. I offer Acne Out® skin consultations free of charge and results will be seen within two weeks once used correctly.

Exciting new treatments

Other exciting treatments I have brought to Beauty at Whelehans are:

• YUMI Lashes – an eyelash treatment that lifts curls and tints your natural lash, ideal for anyone who wants to enhance their own eyelashes but without lash extensions.
• Billion Dollar Brows- an eyebrow designing treatment using a patented tool called the Brow Buddy. It is used to work out the eyebrow shape suited to your face, no stencilling and no guesswork. Brows are then tinted and waxed to define your new shape.

I can be found Tuesday through to Saturday every week, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main street, on the first floor above Whelehans Pharmacy (entrance through the pharmacy). Early morning and late night appointments are available.

Tamara has moved to the health care department of Whelehans and I look forward to looking after Tamara’s beauty clients who were so loyal to Tamara and Whelehans over the last number of years.
